Jace and Clary must maintain their lie about what happened on Lake Lyn. Meanwhile, Luke must deal with his partner pushing him to reveal the truth about the supernatural on Shadowhunters Season 3 Episode 1, “On Infernal Ground.”
The Shadowhunters Season 3 premiere is strong and does an impeccable job of setting up new storylines for the season with Lilith on the hunt to resurrect Jonathan.
I can already tell that Lilith is going to be a villain that I both hate and enjoy at the same time because of how cynical she is. It’s evident that she’s making the wraith demon track down these mundanes, but why?
According to Lilith, there are 33 more sacrifices that the wraith demon has to bring to her before she can perform her ritual. If the shadowhunters don’t figure out that Lilith is here and behind everything, sooner rather than later, things could get messy very fast.
I love that to start the Clary is graduating shadowhunter school and is officially no longer in training. She’s proven herself capable of taking on the challenges of a shadowhunter for some time now.
I think that Clary should have graduated and received her angelic rune in Season 2 after everything that she’s done for the institute and in general, but I digress.
I can already tell that I’m going to like Ollie. I don’t like that Luke doesn’t tell her the truth from the beginning when she has substantial proof that Luke is a werewolf and she has scars from her attack by a werewolf.
Ollie wants to prove that the supernatural is real, and I can understand that seeing how she only had one instance with that werewolf but is that all she wants?
We don’t know much about Ollie other than for the past season she’s been obsessed with proving that Luke is a werewolf. Now that she’s done that could there be a chance that she wants to become one?
She said that she didn’t contract the disease, luckily, but we all know that could be a guard to what her true intentions are. I’m happy that Luke is no longer lying to her, but I think that now he needs to have constant eyes on her to figure out what she uses the information for.
As for the loves of my life, aka Magnus and Alec, I’m so happy that we’re getting to see their relationship develop more. Magnus has a hard time with showing his real emotions, especially to the people that he cares about, which makes it hard to watch him tell Alec to leave for Idris.
Communication is an issue that they’ve had to deal with since the very beginning, and I think that they’re starting to get over that.
Honestly, I know that it will probably never happen with Alec being the head of the institute, but I want Alec and Magnus to live together. I want their relationship to be taken to the next level, again, and I know how ridiculous it sounds but just imagine all of the adorable scenes we would get if they lived together.
Magnus and Alec both want the best for each other and when there’s no communication about what the other wants for themselves, then things get confusing and awkward.
Jace continues to be put through hell as he now has to suffer from seeing Jonathan and killing Clary everytime that he sleeps or daydreams. Could this be the side effect of being brought back to life by the Angel Raziel? Or could this just be the effects of Jonathan’s psychotic ways getting to Jace?
Either way, Jace is going to be in for a long ride this season if anytime he’s around Clary he imagines hurting her.
Words can’t describe how ecstatic I am that Izzy is the new weapons master. This job is a perfect fit for Izzy considering she is certifiably one of the best fighters in the institute.
“On Infernal Ground” is a splendid start to the season and I can’t wait to see where it goes from here.
- Who is Raphael drugging?
- Simon is foolish for leaving the Seelie Queen before figuring out what she did to him.
- Jace and Clary need to tell Alec and Izzy the truth about what happened at Lake Lyn.
